Story
Inside LANXESS, reliability engineering used to depend on whoever still had the latest file. That pattern is common in materials groups working out of Germany. SRE and operations needed a system that would still make sense after the original project team moved on.
LANXESS uses VMware NSX from VMware as the working layer for backup and failover. VMware, part of Broadcom, provides virtualization, private cloud, and container software used to run enterprise data centers. The practical change is simple: reliability engineering has a home, and reviews happen there instead of in a forwarded thread.
