Story
Inside Yang Ming, change control used to depend on whoever still had the latest file. That pattern is common in industrials groups working out of Taiwan. Engineering and quality needed a system that would still make sense after the original project team moved on.
Yang Ming uses SIMULIA from Dassault Systemes as the working layer for product lifecycle data. Dassault Systemes builds 3DEXPERIENCE applications for product design, simulation, and manufacturing operations across industrial companies. The practical change is simple: change control has a home, and reviews happen there instead of in a forwarded thread.
Nothing in this writeup invents a savings number. What Yang Ming gets from Dassault Systemes is a durable place to run change control and a way for engineering and quality to see the same product lifecycle data at the same time.
