Story
Edison International grew workload migration faster than the local tools around it. From the United States, utilities teams still had to serve customers and internal partners who expected a straight answer. Migration squads were the ones stitching the picture together by hand.
Rolling out Red Hat OpenShift put datacenter exit planning on Red Hat. Red Hat, an IBM company, provides enterprise open source platforms, including RHEL, OpenShift, and Ansible, for hybrid cloud. Edison International keeps the product in the path where work already happens, so migration squads do not context-switch into a graveyard system used only for audits.
The visible result is steadier datacenter exit planning. Workload migration is easier to inspect, and adjacent groups can join migration squads without a guided tour of someone's desktop.
